Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of working with TEVET for my government contract?

A procurement can be counted in more than one sub-set category, as applicable, except 8(a) and small disadvantage business (SDB) that are reported separately. However, taken together they form the SDB Government-wide achievement.

In fact, all sub-contract awards to small businesses, women-owned small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, 8(a) firms, HUBZone small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses count toward the government-wide small business goal.

For example, if a business is awarded a prime contract and they are service-disabled veteran-owned small business, a small business concern, and a woman-owned small business, the agency counts the contract award in all categories that apply.

TEVET holds the following diversity classifications:

  • Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)
  • Veteran Owned
  • SBA Certified Small Business Concern

What is the SDVOSB Program and how does a prime contractor benefit?

Three percent of annual federal expenditures for a variety of procurements are reserved exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB). The Veterans Benefit Act of 2003 established the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business procurement program which provides federal contracting assistance to small business concerns.

Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 52.219 SUBPART 19.14) established in 2003 furthered the cause by reinforcing the 3% set aside and adding Sole Source Awards: $5 million for a requirement within the NAICS codes for manufacturing and $3 million for a requirement with any other NAICS code.
